Solid Pine Wood Tall Chest Dresser - 5 Drawers with Lock & Key for Bedroom Storage

UPDATE 1/16/22: since my last update, I have decided to just scrap both of these dressers. I was going to attempt to repair them by adding stronger drawer hardware, however every time I even attempt to move one of the drawers, they just fall apart! I read all of these reviews before purchasing these dressers and I took it with a grain of salt because some people just don’t follow directions properly when putting things together. No, I was so wrong. We followed the directions to a T & we made sure everything was tight and sturdy while putting these together. They still fell apart completely. Save yourself some trouble and just start looking for a good quality dresser at local estate sales. They’re already put together that way and you can find some really solid furniture for great prices. If you do decide to go ahead and order this junk, my advice would be to go to a hardware store and buy stronger drawer slides and do NOT use the “glue” they send with these dressers. That “glue” does not work and now it’s like we didn’t even use any glue at all because everything is just falling apart. I wish I could send the trash bill to this company to reimburse me for having to pay extra to have this crap hauled off.UPDATE 01/07/22: I ordered 2 of these dressers.. Do yourself a favor and just pay a little more for an American made, real wood dresser... The drawers on both of these dressers are non functional because the railing/slide hardware that actually holds the drawers up & allows them to glide open and shut are completely bent & they're not strong enough to hold up clothes in the drawers. I'm going to attempt to go to Lowe's this weekend and get some stronger hardware for the drawers & see if that works. I'll come back to update whether or not that works. If it does, then maybe you buy these but BEFORE YOU INSTALL THEM, go to lowes and buy better drawer hardware ;)I ordered 2 of these dressers because I wanted something tall enough to put a TV on in our bedroom and I needed it to be large enough to hold a good amount of clothing. The drawers are large and I love the amount of space this dresser has. I also liked that it could be sanded down and stained to a custom color, which is a big reason as to why I ordered it and it is mostly solid wood. However.. you do get what you pay for, and I kind of wish I would have just spent the extra $100/$150 to purchase what I originally wanted to buy. If your floors aren't super level, I recommend anchoring this to the wall. Having too many loaded down drawers open at once will cause this to flip over. It's easy enough to put together if you have the sense for building things, but sometimes, no matter how hard me and my boyfriend would try to tighten everything, it just wouldn't tighten as tight as I would've liked it to. Also, some of the wood pieces for the drawers won't line up easily. This dresser is China made and it's obvious.TL;DR Version: If you just want a solid-ish piece of furniture to do a job, this will get it done cheaply. It MIGHT be better than walmart furniture, but not so sure... If you want to spend a little more and have better quality, do it. You get what you pay for. This is china made and it's definitely obvious. I kind of wish I had spend a little more and got better quality. Also, you kind of have to fight the drawers sometimes to get them to even open and that's frustrating at times.This chest of drawers was recieved with the shipping carton intact, but there were broken pieces inside. The drawer sides and rear are made of VERY soft wood, almost like balsa wood. The drawer fronts are made of pine, which is a soft wood also, but the pine is much stronger than the wood used inside the chest of drawers. Two of the drawer sides were broken, but I was able to use wood glue and some clamps to glue them together. There is one other issue with the drawer slides that causes the drawers to stick closed. The screws that hold the runners on the drawers stick out and catch on the slides inside the chest causing you to have to jerk the drawers to open them. I actually jerked the front off one of the drawers trying to open it. The screws don't hold well on the slides since the wood is so soft. The screws pop loose from the slides and stick up and catch on the runners. Be aware this is a problem. On the good side, the chest of drawers looks good and has very large drawers for storage. I recommend that you use wood glue or construction adhesive when assembling the drawers to give them more strength. Overall, I give this 2 stars for the flimsy wood they use for the drawers, but 4 stars for the looks and storage capacity.The instructions were clear, though the quality of the hardware made assembly a little haphazard. The original packaging was missing a handful of screws and pegs but the manufacturer sent additional hardware overnight so kudos to their customer service.It’s probably to be expected of pine, but the final assembly with all screws and anchors tightened is still a tiny bit wobbly. It’s unnoticeable in general, but I’m nervous about how it will wear over time with repeated opening and closing drawers.Assembling the draws was a little stressful becauseif you go too fast, the screws will strip the predrilled holes and no longer grab and hold the pieces together; again a consequence of buying pine I suppose. Going slow and carefully though after the first draw revealed these complications produced acceptable results in the other three drawers.The dresser itself is loud when opening and closing the drawers, and I will fix that by buying little rubber stoppers for the drawers, but there’s no fixing the loud wheel & tracks hardware that’s included.Looks are very decieving with this product.Looks like it would be sturdy. This is the cheapest made piece of furniture i have every bought!!!!Will never buy another piece of furniture online again.Drawers will not close worth a crap or pull out either and you can shake the whole chest.Piece is wobbly.NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.WASTE OF MONEY.First up, you get what you pay for. For this price you can get some pretty decent MDF furniture, but this is pine, and you’re paying the bottom of the price range for solid wood furniture. This will never become a dresser you pass down to your children.Whilst the drawers are on metal sliders, they are once again very cheap sliders, and you’ll often find the drawers don’t open right.This is indeed solid pine, however it’s very cheap solid pine. There’s a couple of parts you need to screw and the wood screws easily chew up and pine and spin freely, and that’s doing it by hand.The joiners are very cheap, and hardly lock together. It really needs some more dowel to provide better support.Assembly wise, there are a couple of hairy parts where you want a second person, but it’s doable with one. It took quite a lot of work putting it together.One good thing is they provide you with plenty of spare bits and pieces.Overall: This is the very cheap end of solid wood furniture, and the MDF equivalent at this price is much better quality. Your choice.
